In the last year and a half, I have been fortunate to discover a lot of great small businesses on Instagram. Since we are traveling in France this week, I thought it might be fun to share some of those businesses with you. I plan to do this again throughout the year, as I want to do everything I can to help these businesses. I hope you will join me in supporting them.
So why support small business? Because we can! And we should. Small businesses support their local communities. Small businesses are run by people and not boards or stockholders. Small businesses represent originality and creativity. Small businesses are where innovation happens. Small businesses make neighborhoods healthy. Small businesses are authentic, original and they care.
The first small business I want to share with you is Woven Grey. A photo of a few of their handmade woven baskets popped up on my Instagram feed one day and I thought to myself, “Wow, those are amazing!”. When I read the description on the Woven Grey website, “Woven Grey makes functional, timeless storage baskets from American-grown cotton. Natural textures paired with modern designs bring that relaxed, coastal living style into your home”, I was hooked. Plus their baskets are made in California!
I reached out to the owner Kathleen of Woven Grey and offered to share her baskets on my blog and Instagram. There are just so wonderful and I knew they would look fabulous in not only my home but in all of your homes too! Kathleen and I decided to do a giveaway. She is giving away the large sized two handle basket shown on the right in the first photo above. How incredible is that?
All you have to do to enter is follow the two of us on Instagram @my100yearoldhome and @wovengrey and leave a comment on my Instagram post (featuring her baskets). Just comment and tell us how you would use the basket! The contest is open until October 19th at 9:00 am PST. Don’t forget to enter. And since I am mailing it you need to live in the US.
Just look below at a few more of her baskets.
Did I mention they are 100% sustainable? I love that.
The tall basket on the left is a planter floor basket. The black bottom is nylon and it is waterproof! How amazing is that? The white two-handled basket is the giveaway item and it is great for magazines, towels, remotes or anything! The oval basket is great for serving bread but also works for hand towels in the guest room or even holding fruit. As you can see, these baskets will work just about anywhere in your home.
Look how awesome this Woven Grey deep woven striped storage bowl is.
I hope you will follow Kathleen at Woven Grey and her wonderful Instagram account. And don’t forget to enter the contest! Let’s show her how much we love to support small business.
