The Waco Fixer Upper home exterior is done! I am so excited to show you all the reveal of the Waco home exterior!

It has been quite a process, but it is finally done. Thanks for following along and I hope you enjoy the results as much as I do. Be sure to check out all the details below. And don’t forget to comment with your thoughts!

Waco Fixer Upper Home porch

Can you believe it? This is our new front porch on our Waco Fixer Upper Home! It’s painted and decorated and the house numbers are on. The yard and fence are done and the grass is in. Even the flower beds are planted! Let’s take a quick look back to see how the front of this home has been transformed.

Waco Fixer Upper Home before photo

I took this picture of our Waco home on the day we closed escrow. When I look at this I do wonder, “What was I thinking”? When we opened the door, rats ran across the floor and it smelled so bad we could hardly breathe.

Take a close look at the front porch. Basically, there are no supports holding it up. Just decorative railing. Can you imagine? That’s the reason the front roof is sagging in a really big way.

Foundation, foundation, foundation!

The first thing we did was fix the foundation. The pier and beams were not supported correctly and fortunately, it was a pretty quick fix. (This was also the day I found out we couldn’t salvage the windows. The “glass” in most of the windows was actually plastic. Note to self … when buying a home make sure the glass windows are actually glass.)

Next, we added the foundation for the wrap around porch. I wanted a wrap around porch really badly and I was determined to make this porch happen. Fortunately, I got my way.

A New Roofline For The Porch

Unfortunately, there was no way the existing roof line would work with the new wrap around porch. So rather than apply a gazillion bandaid solutions, I bit the bullet and decided to take off the old roof and add a new one. This allowed for a continuous roof and porch line. This was not in the budget but had to happen.

Waco Fixer Upper Home construction

Once the roof was finished we were able to start constructing the porch. Although you can’t tell, the side porch is one and a half times longer than the front porch.

Siding and Trim

The new siding was also added and we went ahead and covered the door hole as we waited for the new door to arrive. Next, the trim and vertical pillars were added.

The front door arrived shortly thereafter and was installed. Next, we added the porch railing. Since this photo was taken, we worked every day on the project. And now the Waco Fixer Upper Front of the house is done.
