Why Change Your Kitchen Decor Every Season?

Before we dive into the specifics of decorating your kitchen for spring, let’s talk about why it’s important to change your decor with the seasons. Updating your decor can help to create a sense of freshness and renewal in your home. It can also help to create a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel more connected to the current season.

Switching up your decor can also be a great way to experiment with different colors and styles without spending a lot of money. As you can see here and in the post about my Family Room, I am experimenting with a new spring color palette of lavender and sage green.

Kitchen Counter Decor Ideas

One of the easiest ways to update your kitchen for spring is by adding some new decor to your countertops. Start by clearing off all of your existing items and wiping down the surfaces.

Next, add a fresh bouquet of lavender flowers to a vase and place it on your counters. Not only will this add a pop of color, but it will also make your kitchen smell amazing!

To continue the lavender and sage green theme, you can add some lavender-scented candles or a lavender-colored dish towel to the counter. For a more subtle touch of lavender, consider adding a few lavender-colored coasters or a salt and pepper shaker set.

To balance out the lavender, add some sage green accents to the counter. This could include a sage green ceramic pitcher or a set of green bowls. If you have a wooden cutting board, consider adding a few sprigs of fresh sage to it to create a natural and aromatic touch.

Kitchen Island Decor

If you have a kitchen island, it’s a great space to decorate for spring. Start by adding a table runner in a soft sage green color to the surface of the island. This will create a nice base for your other decor items.

Next, add a vase filled with fresh flowers to one end of the island. On the other end, place a wooden tray with a few small decor items such as a bowl on a cake plate, candlesticks, a silver napkin holder, and some small coordinating plates. The combination of different textures and soft colors will create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

If you have pendant lights above your island, consider switching out the light bulbs for ones with a warmer, more natural glow. This will help to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere in your kitchen.

Kitchen Shelf Decor

If you have open shelves in your kitchen, they’re a great opportunity to showcase some of your favorite spring decor items. Start by clearing off the shelves and wiping them down. Then, add some lavender and sage green accents to the shelves.

This could include a few lavender-colored cookbooks, a set of sage green tea towels, and a lavender-scented candle. If you have any plants or herbs in your kitchen, consider displaying them on the shelves as well. This will create a fresh and natural touch that’s perfect for spring.

If you have any empty spaces on your shelves, consider adding some artwork or decorative plates in shades of lavender and sage green. This will help to add some visual interest to the space and tie in with the rest of your decor.

How to Decorate on a Budget

Changing the decor in your kitchen every season is a great way to keep things fresh and interesting, but it doesn’t have to break the bank. There are plenty of ways to update your kitchen decor without spending a lot of money. Here are some tips on how to decorate your kitchen for spring on a budget:

Use Faux Flowers

Fresh flowers are a great way to add color and fragrance to your kitchen, but they can be expensive and don’t last very long. Instead, consider using faux flowers.

There are many high-quality faux flowers available that look just as beautiful as the real thing. Look for faux lavender and sage green flowers to add to vases and arrangements around your kitchen. You can always reuse them for many years to come!

Use Fresh Flowers Selectively

If you do want to use fresh flowers, consider using them selectively. For example, instead of filling a large vase with lavish fresh lavender flowers, use a simpler bouquet in a smaller vase. This will give you the same pop of color and fragrance without having to spend as much money.

Change Your Linens

A simple and inexpensive way to update your kitchen decor is by swapping out your towels, placemats, and napkins. Look for items in shades of lavender and sage green to tie in with your spring color scheme. You can find these items online for a fraction of the cost of more expensive options.

Repurpose Glassware

Instead of buying new glassware for spring, consider repurposing items you already have. Look for glasses, jars, and vases in your kitchen that are the right size and shape for holding flowers or other decorative items. These items can be used to create beautiful centerpieces and displays without having to spend any money.

Shop Thrift Stores and Vintage Markets

Vases, bowls, and platters can be expensive, but you can find great options at thrift stores for a fraction of the cost. Also, don’t forget to use items for vases that aren’t really vases. This includes ball jars, crocks, pitchers, and more.

Look for vases in shades of lavender and sage green to use for your faux or fresh flower arrangements. You can also find unique and interesting bowls and platters at thrift stores that you wouldn’t be able to find in a regular store.
