Why Celebrating Valentine’s Day Dinner at Home Is the Perfect Choice
Dave and I have dined at home on Valentine’s Day for years.
Why?
One year, we dined at a new restaurant, which was incredibly crazy. We waited 45 minutes for our reserved table. The restaurant was so loud we couldn’t hear our conversation, and the bill was ridiculously expensive.
I guess we had just had enough.
That was the year we decided to dine in on February 14th.
Here are a few compelling reasons I have come up with why you should consider hosting a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner right in your own home.
But not necessarily in your dining room.
It’s More Romantic
There’s no denying the intimate ambiance that can be created when you celebrate Valentine’s Day dinner at home. With soft lighting, cozy decor, and the privacy of your own space, you and your partner can truly focus on each other and the connection you share.
It’s More Personal
When you dine at home, you have complete control over every aspect of the evening, from the menu to the music to the table setting. This allows you to tailor the experience to your preferences and create a truly personalized and memorable celebration.

Who says you need to dine out to enjoy gourmet cuisine?

We love to cook together and have fun while doing it.

My Latest Project
This year represents the 25th year since our big remodel of our home. We redid most of the first floor, which included the kitchen, family room, sunroom, two bathrooms, mudroom area, back porch, back patio, and outdoor kitchen.
Unfortunately, 25 years seems to be a threshold for some of the items in our home.
We have already replaced our heating, ducting, and air conditioning.
And now I need to replace our stove.
You know, the big 48″ gas stove with eight burners that costs a fortune?
Yeah, that one.
Our 25-year-old gas range is a DCS, and I have loved it. But it’s dying, and actually, it’s not safe.
So, it is time for a replacement. The Wolf is a bit out of my price range, so I am leaning towards getting a Viking.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I would love your input on this.

My Biggest Challenge This Week
Would you believe it is traveling?
I left this morning for Atlanta and Richmond. I am visiting family and helping my best friend settle into her new home and I will be gone all week.
Then, I head to Palm Springs next week for the ALT Summit. I am presenting for the 4th year in a row and am very excited to share everything new with AI for content creators.
Two weeks later, I am off to The Inspired Home Show in Chicago.
I am very excited about these trips but love being at home. And trips are always more enjoyable when you aren’t traveling alone. Right?

We have had a 48″ Viking for over 30 years and love it! So much so, we recently put a 36″ Viking in a second home. We’re in the same boat as you, needing to replace the old one. I finally found a great repair person, but now most of the parts have been discontinued! Good luck!
We don’t have a Viking but know people who do and are very pleased. One thing to keep in mind is the quality of appliances these days might not be the same as it once was. I still think Viking’s a good bet. As I recall, Ina Garten has a Viking in her barn kitchen.👍🏻
