Outdoor Patio Tour
My favorite place to entertain in our home is our backyard. Today I am sharing the four different entertaining areas on our outdoor patio.
We are fortunate to live in Southern California because the weather allows us to entertain and enjoy our outdoor patio almost all year round. This area is versatile as we use it for dining, entertaining, reading, cocktail hour, and family time.
There are also a lot more outdoor patios by some of my blogging friends featured here on my blog. In fact, there are twenty-one more! Be sure to scroll down to see them all.

What I Love Most About Our Outdoor Patio
I love to entertain and I am pretty sure that is why we have four different entertaining areas on our back patio,
Yes, we have four entertaining areas. And this is what I love the most about our back patio.
If you look at the photo pictured above, the first area on the left is our outdoor kitchen, then we have our gathering place, then the vintage seating area, and last but not least, our outdoor dining room which is under the covered porch area.
Why do we have so many different areas?
Because when we entertain, I love that everyone can find a place to enjoy and visit. I also serve dinner in all of these different areas, just to mix it up a bit.
Over the years we have entertained out here so many times. For example, I hosted a dinner party for my family and a dinner party with some friends. It was so great to entertain and be with friends.
The Outdoor Kitchen
I love having an outdoor kitchen. We grill here at least three times a week (all year round). When we have a party we often use this area as a bar or a buffet.
The kitchen has a green egg and a large barbecue. It also has one gas burner for cooking, a sink, an icemaker, and a refrigerator.
It is pretty self-sufficient and I can easily cook a full dinner out here.
The Back Patio Dining Area
This is our covered dining area. We eat out here year-round. It’s covered and if necessary, we have outdoor curtains for patio privacy or to try to keep the bugs out.
This is such a great place to entertain. We have heaters in the ceiling and a wood fireplace if the weather is cold. This amazing table and chairs from Arhaus seat eight people so we frequently entertain and host dinner parties out here. During the summer, we eat out here almost every night.
The Gathering Place
This area in the center of our back porch is what I call our gathering place. It’s right outside the French doors and we often sit out here for cocktails, especially on summer evenings or in the spring when it begins to stay light later. Every once in a while I will look outside and see my husband reading in the rocking chair. Naps out here are common too.
The furniture is from the Hamptons Collection at Arhaus. How amazing is that rocking chair?
This area is a favorite place just to hang out and relax.
I styled this area for summer and I brought the pink outside to our backyard. Isn’t it great?
I usually throw together some sort of appetizer and a charcuterie board is always well received!
I am trying to be healthy these days. So this assortment of fruit, nuts, and cheese is perfect!
The Optional Vintage Seating Area
I call this area the Optional Vintage Seating Area because sometimes this area is set and other times it is not!
I purchased this vintage furniture for next to nothing and I still love it! I spent less than $100 for all three pieces and spray-painted the rod iron furniture myself. You can see how the entire makeover in this blog post. Somehow I discovered that. These cushions from Pier One fit perfectly which was a huge relief because I had assumed I would have to make the cushions myself.
This is such a quaint area to sit in and have great conversations.
This view of the back of our home shows the four entertaining areas on our outdoor patio.
See? It’s not entirely crazy to have four outdoor patio areas! They are all used and everyone has a favorite spot.

I love all your ideas! Just gorgeous! I was curious if you knew what color the siding is and The color of your shutters? It looks like hardy plank shingle siding. If you could let me know I’d greatly appreciate it! We’re painting our exterior and love this!!
Thank you!
Lisa
all of that outdoor space is utterly dreamy!!! so so beautiful!
Thank you so much, Cassie. I love that you think so 🙂
So charming!!!
Thank you!
So peaceful and beautiful. Could you please share your source for the floral pillows? Thank you so much!
I just love everything! Here’s my question – when it rains what do you do about your gorgeous furniture in the outside areas? I’m trying to stage an outside “secret garden” area I have and although it doesn’t rain much here in Arizona, it does rain sometimes. You have a beautiful knack for decorating. I love your style. I love your pop of pink. Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us.
do you store your cushions inside or just cover the entire set?
That’s my question as well….I HATE dragging all the cushions in for bad weather, but they’ll get destroyed if we leave them out. Interested to see how you handle this.
Beautiful all around! 🥰
Updating w correct email. 🥴
How I loved seeing all your entertaining zones in your gorgeous yard! I dream of an outdoor kitchen but it’s not really practical here where we love. LOVED seeing everything. Your yard is so inviting and would love to visit it in real life.

Wow! You have some amazing ideas for your patio. You have created such a warm and inviting outdoor patio. I have a small patio and was thinking about expanding mine. After seeing your ideas I think I will be doing some expanding. Thank You
That would be awesome! Although I am sure it is great as is. Good luck, friend!
The outdoor kitchen was a surprise! Love your home … indoors and out!
Thank you so much, Laney! Love having you along.
What do you do when it rains? Is the furniture weather resistant?
The simplicity of a flat roof patio lets you maintain a conventional patio design, yet may still add class and sophistication to your outdoor area
I love all your outdoor spaces. Everything is so beautiful and inviting.
Thanks Debbie! You are the best.
