New Fall Farmhouse Kitchen Decor

I love adding new fall farmhouse kitchen decor to our home. It makes me smile to see how the fall branches add so much color to our kitchen.

This year I added a light selection of fall kitchen decor. Almost all of the color comes from a collection of old and new fall foliage. This fall kitchen refresh is not only easy but very inexpensive!

Make it Pretty

I love fall and I love to cook and bake, so refreshing the kitchen for fall always makes me super happy! Updating each room in your home for the new season is a great way to get into the spirit of the season ahead.

I hope that it is beginning to cool down where you live. Mornings that have a little briskness to them and evenings that make you reach for a sweater. In Southern California, September and sometimes October are our hottest months, so adding fall to my home helps me make the transition until the thermometer catches up to the season!

Instant Fall Aesthetic

By adding faux fall leaves, you have instantly achieved a fall aesthetic. If you do literally, nothing other than add fall leaves, you have subtly shifted into fall.

I love the wreath that I made last winter with cream sola wood flowers. Click here for the 5-minute DIY. Instead of taking it down, I changed out the ribbon that it was hung on and added some faux fall leaves which I gently tucked into the wood flowers. I used a peachy colored chiffon ribbon that is my very favorite!

There is something so cozy about kitchens during the fall season. Even before the pumpkin spice lattes arrive at Starbucks, fall means turning on our ovens to bake a loaf of quick bread for a yummy breakfast before everyone is out the door.

As soon as I bring out the fall kitchen decor, I want to start roasting vegetables for dinner and baking bread and muffins. It also makes me want to start planning fall menus and start thinking about how I want to decorate my Thanksgiving table. And, maybe have a pumpkin spice latte!

I have had the clock in the photo above for almost thirty years! Maryliz gave it to me for my birthday and until last year, it had hung on the same sage green organza ribbon that the package had been wrapped in. Last year, when we were shooting photos for the book, we took the clock down and changed the ribbon to white. The clock is hung in a place that everyone checks before heading out the door for the day. We also check it when Sport starts acting like it is dinner time because his belly and the clock are not always in sync.

Neutral Colors with Seasonal Accents

Our farmhouse kitchen is primarily white. With the exception of a small amount of wall space that is painted Farrow & Ball Cooking Apple Green, the neutral palette lends itself easily to seasonal updates. The green in our kitchen blends so nicely with any of the seasonal accent colors. I get the most comments about our kitchen at Christmastime, but I think fall might be my favorite seasonal decor in the kitchen. What do you think?

  1. A little off topic here and could fit into this (and I am sure you already know this) BUT did you know that Martha Stewart opened her first restaurant … Martha Stewart, our multitudinous queen, opened her first restaurant in Las Vegas. The Bedford by Martha Stewart is housed in the Paris casino and takes inspiration from the lifestyle icon’s, well, iconic lifestyle.

And, to let you know you and your side-kick Maryliz are doing a fabulous job.
