Elegant lighting was key to achieving my goal of casual elegance when I created the decor for our newly remodeled beach house.

Lighting is an essential element of any interior design plan. Besides the functional aspect of providing illumination, lighting can also play a significant role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of your home.

A few years ago I changed my perspective on lighting in our home. Instead of choosing lighting as a source of light in our home, I also began to look at lighting as decor.

Now, every time I select a light fixture I see it as a piece of the decor. So when it came time to select lighting for the beach house I chose each piece carefully.

I chose the Hudson Valley Green Point Pendant for a space that was a bit of a challenge to fill. This light is hung in the hallway/stairway between the main floor and the 3rd-floor deck. I needed a large enough fixture to light the space, but not too large that it imposed on the stairway. This fixture was the perfect choice. It is spectacularly beautiful, and my favorite part is the gold leaf finish. You all know how much I love gold leaf!

When we remodeled the beach house we added two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The bathroom that is en suite in the bunk room is where I hung the beautiful Possini Euro Metzeo Brushed Nickel Mirror. It was the perfect size for the space, 26″ x 36″, and looks absolutely gorgeous.
