Christmas Blog Hop

| | |

Hi everybody! I am so excited to be joining so many talented bloggers for my first Christmas Holiday Blog Hop!  If you’re new to my blog, thank you so much for stopping by. Welcome if you just came to my blog my friend Courtney at Tuft & Trim If you haven’t visited her site yet, be sure take a look!

I would like to send special thanks to Lindsey at Reviveanddesign for putting this blog hop together!

Today I’ll be sharing two very special rooms, my craft room and my kitchen.

CRAFT ROOM

My craft room has been very busy lately! I think I have made at least twenty new pillows with my silhouette machine in the past thirty days. This is a big time of year for crafts so you should probably be impressed that it looks so clean. You should also know that ten minutes after these photos were taken I messed this room up all again!

I did want to mention a few things about this room. First off, the incredible Fresh Cut Christmas Trees sign is from Curtis Creation. Isn’t it fabulous? I wish I could leave it up year round!

CRAFT PROJECT

You probably noticed I am in the middle of one of my holiday craft projects. I am making wool felt ball garlands for our tree. I saw similar garlands on the Magnolia website for sale and decided I wanted to make my own. I found these adorable felt balls and cotton string from Crafty Wool Felt. The garlands are so easy to make because the needle and twine easily thread the felt balls and then all you have to do is separate each ball at whatever length you want. They are so easy as each garland takes about ten minutes to make.

LIVE TREE SKIRT

One of my favorite holiday DIY projects has to be my LIVE TREE SKIRT! Is this not the cutest thing ever? I made a “holiday party dress” for my dress form out of chicken wire and fresh pine branches. (Did you know that you can find pine branches for free at Home Depot or any Christmas tree lot? It’s true!) The bodice of the dress form is made of wide burlap ribbon. Check my blog next week for a step by step tutorial on how to make a dress like this. Maybe this is finally my time to enter Project Runway (my dream!)

I am kind of thinking my dress form needs a name now that she has a fancy dress. Any suggestions?

Here are more photos of my wool felt garlands. Truly they are the easiest DIY ever, for any age.

I also wanted to point out my vintage metal crib mattress spring. I am using it as a project management calendar and it is working perfectly!

I rarely show this side of my craft room but it’s fairly organized. It’s nice to have so much storage in this room.

FRESH WREATHS

The wreaths in the windows are from Trader Joes. I have found these to be the least expensive wreaths anywhere, even better priced than the flower mart. I just wrap a ribbon around them and hang them as is. They look great and the fresh Christmas pine scent is fabulous.

KITCHEN

I think our kitchen was the easiest room to decorate for the holidays. First off, it’s already painted green. And there is very little wall space (it’s all windows!) so it was a pretty simple project. The first thing I wanted to point out is the adorable Christmas Trees sign above the window. It is from Curtis Creation.

I used the same wreaths from Trader Joes to decorate all of the windows in our kitchen. There are six of them in here so it really smells wonderful!

You probably noticed all of my Rae Dunn. I just love her canisters and I am thrilled that I found some of her Christmas items this year to add to my collection.

The greens are all faux as I find they last longer that way! I bought all of these at Hobby Lobby on sale. There is some dried eucalyptus that I dried by putting the eucalyptus in the vase without any water. I know, very clever of me, right?

You can add a very festive feel to your home while also keeping your decorating simple. There is no need to overdo it. Just add some red and green and I think you will happy with the outcome.

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas Holiday Craft Room and Kitchen Tour! Please head on over to the next stop on our Holiday Hop which is Chell at Cambridge Home Company. She is sharing her gorgeous front porch and you are going to fall in love with it, I promise!  She has one of the cutest homes on all of Instagram. You don’t want to miss this.

  2. Hi Leslie! Love your craft room. The cow art hanging with clothespins is really cute. Can you tell me where I can purchase one?
