A Fun Way to Make Pancakes for Breakfast
We love to enjoy pancakes at our home but all five of us like something different! I can’t wait to share my fun idea to serve pancakes for breakfast to our entire family.
Do you ever feel like a short-order cook? You would think members in the same family would want the same thing for breakfast. But that does not happen in our family when I make pancakes for breakfast. Every order is different! Today I served pancakes on the back porch and had some fun cooking out on our table.

What do I mean by fun?
Well … I set up a table with everything I needed to make some awesome pancakes … cooked to order. I included our griddle, some delicious Krusteaz Protein Pancake mix, and all of the toppings … blueberries, bananas, raspberries, and chocolate chips.
Then I made some menu cards so my boys could fill out their orders for whatever they want in their pancakes. I made the cards on my computer and they were really easy.

I should probably mention that my boys thought they should fill out their cards the night before so they could sleep a bit longer and wake up to warm pancakes made to order.
Seriously?
They made me laugh and of course I said that was ok. Our boys are grown and they are not home that often so I didn’t mind at all.
Of course, when the cards were filled out, not one of them matched. Every single one was different.
Now you know why I feel like a short-order cook.
Krusteaz Protein Pancake Mix
When you live in a household of all athletes (we have four Division I athletes and I am the fifth, um, “mom-division” athlete) protein is a good thing.
We actually have a drawer in our kitchen that holds protein powder. (I am not sure why but there are three different kinds in the drawer.) I am not kidding!
When I found the Krusteaz Protein Pancake mix the boys were very happy. Plus, it’s delicious, has quality ingredients, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. How awesome is that?
The Krusteaz pancakes are so easy to make. Mix one cup of pancake mix with 2/3 cup of water. Mix (but don’t overmix) and let sit for a bit before you cook them.
The first thing I did was set up the table and make myself a cup of coffee. My favorite breakfast is coffee and pancakes.
I warmed up the grill and set out everything to make breakfast.
I reviewed my “short-order-cook-made-to-order-pancake” orders.
Seriously, there was not a single match.
I also sent out a group text letting the boys know that breakfast would be served in fifteen minutes. And yes, the coffee was ready for them too.
I started my first order for Matt and Michael. They are usually the first ones down the minute they smell anything cooking. Especially pancakes!
Matt ordered banana and chocolate chips and Michael ordered chocolate chip pancakes.
Our griddle is not new … um we need a new one, but don’t these pancakes look amazing?
I must say, this is the most amazing view to have when you are a short-order cook. I loved cooking and enjoying our backyard.

The boys ate their pancakes so fast that I did not have a chance to take any photos.

Oh Yumm! I remember when we used to get Krusteaz mix in a blue and yellow bag that Mom kept in the cupboard under the wall oven!
