DIY Christmas Ideas – How to Make Pom Pom Christmas Trees
I love sharing Easy DIY Christmas Ideas. These pom-pom trees take about fifteen minutes to make!
I am always scouring for DIY Christmas ideas. While I make DIY projects all year long, there always seem to be a few DIY Christmas ideas that pop up in November that I just have to make. This one is quick and easy, so regardless of when you find this post, you have time to make it before Christmas!
Every once in a while it’s nice to find an easy DIY Christmas idea. Don’t get me wrong, I am the queen of long and drawn out DIY’s. I am sure you know that! But when I was out shopping and saw some adorable pom pom trees for $29.00 each I decided it was DIY Christmas Idea time. I went to the craft store and found everything I needed for pom pom Christmas trees! And of course, everything was on sale. So my cost for each tree was less than $10. That is 60% less than the ones at the store.
What You Will Need
- Cardboard trees, in assorted sizes
- Five Pom pom strands, measuring two yards long
- White acrylic paint
- Glue gun
The first thing you need to do is paint each of the cardboard trees. I didn’t want any of the cardboard showing through and this easily solved the problem. Any white acrylic paint will work. Just use enough paint to cover the cardboard.
Starting at the bottom, attach the first row of pom poms with the glue gun. When you start the second row try to place the pom poms in between the poms in the first row. This will give you better coverage on the cardboard tree.
Continue working your way up the cardboard tree. When you run out of a strand, just place the new one in the next spot and continue adhering with the glue gun. Sometime you might need to pull or loosen the pom poms as you head on up to the top of the tree.
When you get to the top glue the last pom on the top and cut off the remaining part of the strand.
See how easy that was? I promise you this DIY Christmas idea won’t take more than ten to fifteen minutes.

Where did you buy Pom Pom strands?
Cute! I’d make this long and drawn out. I can see these made with individual pompoms, but of course, it would take much longer. lol
Very Cute! I have never seen pom-pom strands like that! Where did you find them?

I bought them both at Hobby Lobby
Omgosh. I just made a tree like this. I saw something similar at Targrt in red, green and white and i thought, i could so make this. So I did. Then i saw this post and it is pretty much exactly how i did it. Great minds think alike.
These are so cute, but I have to admit, when I first saw them, I thought they were made with cotton balls! ha ha! Might have to give that a try.
