Summer Decorating Ideas in the Kitchen

I love decorating our home for summer. Today I am sharing decorating ideas in our kitchen and back porch. I hope you like it.

Kitchen View Summer

Today I am sharing a new summer refresh in our home. I love these simple decorating ideas because our home looks like summer has arrived!

Today I am part of the Seasonal Simplicity Home Tour Series hosted by my friend Krista at The Happy Housie. First, I want to welcome you from Ashley’s blog at Modern Glam. Isn’t her home gorgeous?

Today I am sharing two rooms in our home, our kitchen and our outdoor covered patio. I will start out sharing the most popular room in our home, our kitchen.

Re-organizing the Kitchen

Every seasonal refresh always starts out with reorganizing. At least in my house it does. That’s probably because I always need to do more organizing.

Staying at home for so long (are we on the 4th month?) has led me to want less clutter. This isn’t just in our kitchen, but in every room in my house. I started out moving things around and not only does it look better but I needed more counter space for cooking.  The biggest change was that I moved almost all of my countertop appliances into the butler’s pantry.

Funny thing though. Why do we need three different coffee makers to make coffee? Seriously.

Kitchen Decorating Ideas

Whenever I do a refresh, I like to pick a main accent color to use throughout our home. Last year I used orange.

This summer I am going with pink. As a mother of three boys and a dog named Sport, there isn’t a lot of pink in our home.

So it’s time for a change.

I started by replacing the red apples on my island with some peaches. And yes, they are faux. But I love them!

Next, I added some fresh peonies on the island. I put them in one of my vintage battery jar vases.

Next, I added some pink hydrangeas on the counter. I put them in a white vintage tin canister.

This is where all of the coffee makers use to sit on our counter. I think it looks a lot better now.

I realize it’ss not a ton of new decor. But when you have a working kitchen, you can’t have a lot of decor.

Decorating Ideas for the Back Porch

Just outside of our kitchen is our back porch. I thought it might be fun to add some pink out there too.

Now that the weather is warmer, we eat out here almost every night.

Summer on the Patio

I didn’t even realize that I had so many pink items, but all of the items I used to set this table were already in our butler’s pantry.

The flowers are from the grocery store. I styled them for a dinner party and they still look great! And they seem to be lasting forever which is a good thing. I put the flowers in ball jars and then placed them in vintage brick molds that I purchased from Debra Hall Lifestyle.

Table Setting on the Porch

I bought the plates from Home Goods and the pink glasses and candlesticks from Amazon. The copper chargers are my absolute favorites!

Summer Dinner Out on the Patio

I am so in love with these copper chargers and candlesticks. Can you believe the candlesticks cost only $7 each and the chargers are only $8? The pink glasses are only $6 each.

Where to Find the Items Featured in my new Summer Refresh

Here are the items that I found in my butlers pantry and used in my summer refresh. They are all very reasonably priced and you can use them over and over.

Don’t be surprised, but we will be using these chargers, dishes, placemats, and candlesticks for our nightly dinners during most of the summer season.

I am sorry I couldn’t find a link to these plates. When I found them at Home Goods I paid $5.99 per plate! What a steal.

Summer Table for Entertaining

I absolutely love the look of our new summer kitchen and porch. I hope you are inspired to refresh your home with items you already own!

  1. Beautiful, Leslie! Your kitchen is always amazing – love the bowl of faux peaches. I need to try that trick. I love your outdoor eating area – so nice to be able to eat outdoors in the summertime.

  2. So lovely….everything! I am intrigued by the grey tobacco sizer type holder which holds multiple jars. Would you mind sharing info on it? Thanks in advance.
