STORIES // A Glimpse Into My Life
I have a new companion in the craft room!
I haven’t given her a name yet but she is my size and height. I have been looking for her for a very long time but dress forms are so expensive! I saw a gorgeous vintage dress form at the Rose Bowl Flea Market last weekend that I really wanted to buy. Until the vendor quoted me a price … $800. Seriously?
But this week I went to @MagnoliaandWillow antique store (to pick up an old church pew) and found this dress form for a great price!
Before you think I have lost my mind, I have a confession to make…
I’ve always wanted to be a fashion designer. I started sewing when I was eight and have made about every item imaginable, including my wedding dress. I took a fashion design class in college but never pursued my dream. I worked in marketing for 30 years and then became an artist full time eight years ago. Recently I have developed an obsession with blogging and farmhouse style decorating, but you probably already figured that out.
My two favorite TV shows are Fixer Upper and Project Runway. Last year I did one of the most fun projects ever. I painted thirty paintings in thirty days, all inspired by thirty outfits designed on Project Runway! I guess I figured out a way to merge my two favorite dreams … painting and fashion design! Most of the paintings are all pretty big. The largest is 48″ x 48″. And many of them sold.
You can click to my website here for an up close view of my paintings and the dresses that inspired them.
If you enjoy Project Runway as much as I do you might want to catch the new Season 16 which airs on August 17th! I cannot wait.
So, am I going to start draping muslin on my new dress form and design an outfit? I have no idea. But now I at least have the option.
What’s your favorite episode of Project Runway? That’s easy for me! (It was Rainway!)

Thanks Lynn. This was an incredible experience. I loved it!
Beautiful artwork! It’s incredible to have your talents and passions merge into doing something you love.
Thanks so much. It’s always fun to find an inspiration!
I love it! I have always wanted a dress form! Your artwork is gorgeous!
Thank you, Andrea! <3
Love, love love!!!!!
Love the dress form as decor, and it goes great with your farmhouse aesthetic ???????? You’ve made me want to pull out my own sewing machine! Warm hugs from AZ ????♥️
You totally should! Stay cool in that AZ heat!!
I just love your project room. I have a similar dress form in mine. My mom found it at a going out of business sale for Hancock Fabric when I was planning my wedding. I used it to display my wedding dress until the big day! Since then it’s been a decoration for the room because I am awful with sewing lol.
I love that story! So great that you could look at it before the big day to get excited and more “wear” out of it! Did your fiance (at the time) see it?
