DIY Ideas to Personalize a Wedding
I love to entertain and my goal is to always make every party we host a special experience for our guests. Today I am sharing lots of DIY ideas to personalize a wedding.
In the past few years, we have hosted an Engagement Party, a bridal shower and a Rehearsal Dinner at our home. These events have been my favorite and I love that I was able to include some creative DIY projects to make these events even more special. Today I am sharing my favorite DIY ideas to personalize a wedding event. Plus, I have teamed up with some other bloggers who are also sharing their ideas. Be sure to scroll down to see them!
It doesn’t matter what the event is that you are hosting. All you need to do is add a few personal touches to make the day or evening even more special.
Last summer we hosted an engagement party for my oldest son and his fiance. The theme was “California Hamptons” because we had all traveled to the Hamptons (on the east coast) the summer before and we loved it. Here we are in the “real” Hamptons.
Vintage Style Polaroid Photos to Personalize a Wedding
I wanted to share some photos of the “bride and groom to be” and found a company that would print any photos in a 3″ x 4″ size vintage Polaroid. I used a company called FoxPrint. All we did was upload the photos to their site and they turned my order around in one day.
The cost of each photo was thirty-five cents and so worth it! We found photos of the bride and groom to be on their Instagram and Facebook accounts and took screenshots and uploaded them directly to Fox Print. It was so easy!
Personalized Pillows
As I was planning the decor for the engagement party, I wanted to include lots of surprises for the bride and groom. One of the ideas that I came up with was to create pillow covers that were special to the bride and the groom. These pillows feature the wedding date and the humor of our “California Hamptons” theme. I also made pillows that feature their cat and dog names. When the party was over I gave the pillows to the bride and groom to be.
The Place Cards
I hand wrote the place cards on small chalkboards that I purchased here from Amazon. They were .50 each and came with some really cute easels. Unfortunately, it was a bit breezy when we were setting the tables so we didn’t use the easels. Of course, I have reused these chalkboards many times.
Use the Bar to Personalize a Wedding
I made some larger chalkboards for the party. My favorite one was the Special Cocktail list at the bar. We featured the favorite drinks of the bride and groom to be. To make the chalkboards. I cut a stencil on my Cricut machine and then used liquid chalk to make the sign from the stencil.
Here are all of the resources for the items I used to entertain.
Recently my girlfriend and I hosted a bridal shower for my son’s finance. I used my Cricut machine to cut butterflies that we hung from tree branches and also names that were used as place cards. It was such a wonderful event.
I absolutely loved planning these wedding events. Now let’s look at some more great ideas for weddings.
Janine made these adorable DIY succulent wedding favors. I love these so much.

Such great ideas Leslie! I totally love your hanging butterflies – so ethereal and magical! Thanks for another wonderful inspiring post!
Such a beautiful wedding, wow!
It’s all beautiful! I especially love the black “leather look” tablecloths in the first photo! So sophisticated. Maybe they are charcoal, not black, and maybe they are not leather at all, but totally cool look with the black and white photos at each place setting.
What great wedding ideas! I love the butterflies and that huge table is gorgeous!
So much inspiration in one post!!!!!!! It’s all so beautiful as always!

Of course and so happy to do so. Thank you for following along, Jennifer!
I love all of these ideas. How did you put all the wood posts in ground to hold the lights. It did not look like they were permanent.
Did you make yourself or special order the pillows? Love everything posted especially the butterflies! Are there numerous ones on a string spaced apart or just one?
Thank you!
It is the very nice
