A Twist on Traditional Spring Colors
I set a spring table today without using my traditional spring colors. I used pink and brown because I was inspired by … a napkin!
It might sound unexpected, but trust me, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Here are some tips for putting together a pretty table with pink and brown spring colors.
Inspiration From a Napkin
I recently purchased some new cloth napkins with a beautiful pattern in soft brown tones. I bought them thinking that they would look wonderful with so many of the plates I use to set a table.
And then, a serendipitous happenstance occurred. I unboxed my new napkins and plopped them onto the counter in the butler’s pantry, right next to a stack of pink plates and a wonderful new vintage cranberry glass compote.
The rest is history.

Pink and Brown is a Gorgeous Combination of Spring Colors
It might sound a little wacky, but pink and brown really are a gorgeous combination for a spring table setting.
Last year, I chose pink as the color accent for my winter decor. Living in a house full of men has not given me much opportunity to decorate with pink. So, I embraced the new winter color with my whole heart.
When I would go to a flea market or antique store, all of a sudden, all I saw was pink. Pink china and pink glassware and pink Christmas ornaments. Plus pink faux flowers. To be honest, I may have overdone it a bit, but it was so much fun!
This new color combination was absolutely stunning. I knew right away that I would set my spring table with this gorgeous color combination.
Where did I find all of the items to set this spring colors table?
Shop Your Home for New Spring Colors
The only new item on this table is the soft brown and white toile napkins.
Everything else I already owned.
I love to shop my home. Why? Because it’s cheaper for one. And I love finding new discoveries using old stuff. It’s kind of like a fun challenge!
I easily found enough items for a pink and brown table! Let me share what I found.
Setting the Table
Here is the table setting. It is casual and elegant as well.
I used my Hyacinth placemats, pink plates, and some vintage flowered salad plates that I found at the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
Beautiful Colored Glassware
I pulled out my pink goblets and gold-rimmed wine glasses. I think they compliment this table so well.
Here is a close-up of the cloth napkins. I bought eight of these and I am thrilled with the color, size, and style.
A Spring Colors Centerpiece
I went to a vintage sale this past weekend and bought this pink glass footed bowl for $20 from The Pink Porch Ventura! It worked perfectly as a vase for some pink faux flowers. I included links below to the different styles of pink flowers.

Such a beautiful tablescape.
Thanks so much Rachel!
About how many peony bunches are in your center piece for that beautiful new pink bowl?
Great idea!
I love that floral arrangement; I was shocked to see it is silk flowers-I’m off for supplies to make my own!
Yay! Let me know how it goes.
WOW! That is beautiful! I really like the dark rose flower tops on the table. Would love to know where you found them. Thank you
This is a gorgeous table, I love the combination of the pink and brown!! The little flowers scattered on the table are fun! Can you tell me where you got the? I used to live near the Rose Bowl and miss shopping there! You are so very creative, I always look forward to your posts!
I didn’t know that pink and brown goes good together. GORGEOUS.
Thanks Rebecca!
I have several different size dishes of those vintage floral salad plates you have. Two of my aunts had sets of those dishes and, as a child, I loved them. Over the years they each had broken some but together they had quite a few and they both remembered how I loved them as a child. They combined what they had and gave them all to me, including a large platter. I LOVE them and look for reasons to use them at every opportunity.
Your new compote housing those beautiful flowers looks like Kings Crown Thumbprint. As I have a similar one, I will thank you for a spendid idea, to use it for a floral arrangement. Such a delightful table setting.

Gorgeous as always! Such inspiration as I await spring on yet another snowy day. Thanks Leslie.
