Elegant Glass Water Bottles for Entertaining
From the luxurious tablecloth to the gleaming silver, every element contributes to creating the perfect table. Do you use elegant glass water bottles?
While it might seem like a minute detail, a beautiful water bottle can significantly enhance your table setting, adding a touch of class and sustainability. Wine bottles, particularly those from rosé wines, can be upcycled into the most sophisticated glass water bottles.
Elevate Your Entertaining with Elegant Recycled Glass Water Bottles
The charm of an elegant dinner party often lies in the details.
Have you ever thought about upgrading the vessels you use to serve water?
A while ago, we were at a wine-tasting dinner, and I noticed the incredible design of the bottle of Rose. I couldn’t stop thinking how easy it would be to remove the label and how elegant it would look on my table to serve water.
Fortunately, I left the wine dinner an hour later with some empty rose bottles!

Discovering the Beauty in White Wine Bottles:
White wine bottles, especially rosé ones, are often overlooked art pieces. Many come with intricate etchings, custom-formed structures, and unique color tints that set them apart from the standard green wine bottle. When hit by candlelight, the pale blush of a rosé bottle can give off a mesmerizing glow, adding to the magic of your dinner ambiance.
Where to Find Interesting White Wine Bottles
- Visit local wine stores: One of the best places to discover unique wine bottles is at local wine stores. Smaller stores, in particular, might have limited edition bottles with intricate designs as they put extra effort into branding and presentation.
- Wine Tastings: This is where I found my first recycled glass water bottles. Attending wine-tasting events can introduce you to various wines and, by extension, a range of bottle designs. It’s an excellent opportunity to savor delicious wines and scout for potential water bottles for your next event.
- Ask Friends and Family: Tell your loved ones about your new upcycling project. They might hand over some beautiful bottles they’d otherwise recycle or throw away.
- Frequent Thrift Stores: Some thrift stores or antique shops might have old wine bottles with exciting designs. These can be a goldmine for unique finds.
Prepping Your Bottles for Entertaining
Once you have your collection, it’s time to prepare them for the table.
- Label Removal: Soaking the bottle in warm, soapy water for an hour usually loosens the adhesive. You can then use a scraper or an old credit card to gently peel off the label. I like to use Goo Gone because it takes just a few minutes to remove the label, and it always comes off in one piece!
- Washing and Sterilizing: After removing the label, thoroughly wash the inside of the bottle with warm, soapy water. Rinse well. To ensure the bottle is sterile, fill it with a mixture of one part white vinegar to five parts water and let it sit for a few minutes. Rinse again thoroughly with cold water.
- Drying: Let the bottle air dry completely. If you’re in a hurry, a hairdryer can speed up the process, but ensure the inside is moisture-free before storing or using it.
The Sustainable and Chic Edge
Apart from the undeniable aesthetic appeal, using recycled wine bottles as water vessels carries a green edge. It’s a step towards sustainability, reducing the demand for new glass production and reducing waste.
Moreover, there’s an undeniable charm in knowing that the bottle has a story, a past life in which it housed a delightful wine and is now part of your entertaining repertoire.
Setting the Table
When arranging your table, consider placing a wine bottle-turned-water bottle next to every two or three guests, depending on the size of your table. You can also add a personal touch:
- Custom Tags: Add tags with a simple “Water” label or a fun message like “Eau de Elegance”.
- Fresh Garnishes: For a refreshing twist, add slices of cucumber, lemon, or mint to the water.
- Chill Before Serving: Ensure your water is cool. You can refrigerate the bottles or place them in ice buckets before serving.
Elevating your entertaining game doesn’t always require a hefty price tag. Sometimes, it takes creativity, a keen eye for detail, and a sustainable approach.
By upcycling white wine bottles, especially elegant rosé ones, into water bottles, you’re making an eco-friendly choice and adding a touch of refined elegance to your table setting.
So the next time you uncork a bottle of white or rose wine, think twice before discarding it. With its intricate design, that bottle might be the showstopper at your next dinner party! Cheers to sustainable elegance!

I think I know the one you mean! Yay☺️ Just perfect!
Luv this idea. I was able to pick 2 Bacarat crystal water pitchers at a friends consignment store here in Westlake Village CA and I have using them for water but your idea is such fun different shape bottles and different heights makes this more interesting on a table.
