The Best Tips to Shopping Online

Shopping online can be intimidating. But I love it. I love that there are no crowds, no pressure to shop and you can take all the time to shop that you need.

I have always been an online shopper. And that is because there is a lot about shopping online that I really enjoy. There are no crowds, no pressure and I can take as long as I want to make a decision.

I get requests every day asking where I bought things for our home and I finally decided to get my act together. My new website launches in a week and all of the information will be there. Including my paint colors. I am so excited!

You all know how much I love Magnolia. And I love their Hearth and Hand merchandise for two reasons. It’s great looking and it is very reasonably priced.

I put together a list of my favorite items from their latest collection. I am obsessed with the Magnolia rugs pictured here. But the handstitched bedding is my favorite! And that cake plate is fabulous.

How to Shop Online

I distinctly remember when I had to shop for an entire bedroom in the Waco home online when I was working with Bed, Bath and Beyond. At first, I was intimidated by the process. But then I relaxed and forced myself to shop exactly as if I was in the store. I think the outcome was probably the nicest room I ever created.

It helps if you shop for the big things first. I picked out the beds first and then the comforter cover. Next, I selected the rug (which just might be my favorite item in the room). At that point, I took a break for a few days and went back and reviewed my purchases. I was happy with what I selected and started adding the accessories.

The process I used was simple. I just added everything to the shopping cart on my computer. At one point I had like 40 items in my shopping cart. As I moved through the process and made decisions I just deleted items that I didn’t want. After about a week I was happy with what I had found and placed my order.

I do recall how hard it was to select the chandelier for the room. I probably changed my mind fifteen times. I just keep reminding myself that there wasn’t one perfect lamp. There were twenty that worked perfectly and all I had to decide was which one I liked the most. That helped me so much!

It was a wonderful shopping experience and here are the things I chose for the room.

I went thought the exact same process when I selected furniture for the dining room in our Waco Airbnb.

The biggest decision was the dining room table. I knew I wanted a farmhouse style table and at one point I had 14 different dining room tables in my shopping cart. I agonized and was totally overwhelmed until I started shopping for the dining room chairs.

Because our home in Waco is an Airbnb, I knew I didn’t want upholstered chairs. They would get dirty and it didn’t make sense.

As I was searching for chairs it became really obvious that my favorite chairs didn’t work with a lot of the tables I had added to my cart. The wood was too dark in some cases and the style didn’t work with some of the others. Once I decided on the table and chairs, the rest was easy. I loved shopping for this room so much.

What About Returns?

So what happens if you don’t like the item you bought online?

Shopping online is not foolproof. It’s really important that you understand the return policies of the retailers you are shopping with. Before you buy one thing! Many retailers have free returns and it’s important to know this information before you make your purchases. If it too costly to return an item, I don’t think I would buy it.

For most of us, shopping online is our only option these days as most stores are closed. So I wanted to share my experiences and let you know how much I love shopping online.
