Summer Outdoor Dining Ideas
I don’t need to tell you how much I love outdoor dining. Today, I created a new table with a fun summer color palette.
There is something so special about sitting around a table outside. Fresh air, food, and the way the conversation and laughter hover around the table and float away like a balloon. I love the color aqua, and I thought it might be fun to create a summer outdoor dining table on our back patio. I ran to Trader Joe’s for flowers and put this table together in less than an hour.
Outdoor Dining Colors
Since I have been spending a lot of time at the beach house these past few months, I decided to bring the beach house feeling to our home and create an excellent aqua-themed table. Why not bring the colors of the beach to our home in Pasadena?
I cannot believe it took me this long to realize how stunning an aqua-themed table would look in our backyard. I love this view of my table overlooking the backyard. It’s an effortless table and as you know, simple is my favorite way to decorate.
I have also teamed up with some very talented bloggers today. They all shared their outdoor entertaining ideas, so scroll down to the bottom of this post to see all of them.

Arranging Flowers for My Outdoor Dining Table
I love how the flowers turned out for our outdoor dining table.
As usual, I bought them at Trader Joe’s. Going into it, I knew I wouldn’t use the primary color in my flower arrangement. I mean, who wants aqua flowers in their arrangement, right? So when I arrived at the store, I knew I wanted predominantly green with a bit of white.
How about that vase? It is a vintage battery jar that I bought at a vintage sale. I own a few clear ones, and I love the aqua color of this battery jar!
The flowers were effortless to arrange and did not take long at all. Maybe 15 minutes total to arrange?
- One – Here are the flowers I bought at Trader Joe’s. I bought about 75% green and 25% white flowers. I had no plans and knew I wouldn’t look for aqua flowers, so white and green seemed a good idea.
- two – I filled the battery jar with water and added greenery.
- three – I just kept adding greenery and loved the variety of choices I could find at the grocery store.
- 4 – Don’t laugh, but this was my last photo of my flower-arranging lesson. Sometimes, I zone out and forget to stop and take pictures. Oh well, all I did was add green stems and the white flowers at the end. It was pretty straightforward, I promise.
You can see the finished floral arrangement in the next photo.
Setting the Dining Table
I used some of my favorite vintage aqua pieces that I used to have at our beach house. The aqua spritzers are amazing, and I love them. Looking closely, you can see the vintage jars filled with all the sea glass I collected on the Ventura beaches.
My favorite sea glass colors to collect are white, green, and aqua. Sea glass is abundant on the beaches, and I love hunting for it. It’s so relaxing.
The placemats and napkins are eight years old, but I made a few recommendations below. The dishes are Sophie Conran, and I love the color so much. The polka-dot glasses are so much fun to add to any table.

Love the pretty aqua touches Leslie! Your table is beautiful!!
Thank you, Judy!
Beautiful Leslie! Finding sea glass is a rare commodity here in the Northeast so every time I find some, I grab it up. I love your vintage Spritzer bottles – now an addition to my “must find” list 😉.
Hi Leslie, Would you mind sharing where you bought your outdoor table and chairs. I love the look!
I love your blog. I love that you’re always creating new tablescapes. I live in Texas so the window for outdoor eating is very narrow. Early Spring and early Fall. At least that’s without a patio cover and fans/heaters. I’ve never been to California so I don’t know if this is a problem where you live, but here in the summer the flies are such a nuisance when trying to dine outdoors. Is that a problem for you and how do you deal with them? Thank you!
Such a pretty color combination – I love to aqua, and you did a beautiful job with it. Of course I always love your flower arrangements too! 🙂 Thanks for the beautiful inspiration, and, hope you’re having a lovely 4th of July weekend!
Great ideas. Your tablescape is gorgeous!
Thanks so very much Renae! 🥰
Love sea glass. Where can I purchase the white? Is it sold by weight, container size.?
Where can I find for sale the battery jar? What was it actually used for?
Can the looks dot glasses be used as water glasses, tea glasses?
You are the best!
Hi! I’ve linked the sea glass below ☺️ The battery jar is from a flea market- it’s vintage! The dot glasses are great for water.

PS. How do you use the spritzer bottles?
Hi Leslie,
I was curious about the aqua spritzer, seltzer bottles too. What are they used for?
They are probably just being used for the color scheme on your table, but just curious about them.
So pretty!
Thanks so much Kristen! ☺️
