A few months ago I was asked if I wanted to participate in a Summer Home Blog Tour. There are so many bloggers that I admire participating in the tour and I can’t believe they asked me to join them. Needless to say, I am very excited and just so you know, the tour goes live on July 24th. Today I’m sharing the behind the scenes!
Yesterday I was lucky enough to participate in the #cottonstemheartshome feature with my favorite Instagram friend Erin @cottonstem. Erin was kind enough to feature a photo of the exterior of my home and so many of you left very nice comments.
I decided to feature an Instagram Story featuring the front of my house and all of the things you couldn’t see. Things like chipped paint, dead plants, missing shutter parts and lots more. I was trying to encourage all of you to share photos of your home even when it isn’t perfect. Because seldom is anything perfect!I thought it might be fun to share those here too!
I know you will be surprised to learn there is another item that I collect. I was looking for a silver wine holder in our butler’s pantry last night and I happened to glance in the back of the cupboard. Imagine my surprise when I spotted my silver water pitcher collection!
When my older sister got engaged a while back I told her I wanted to host her Rehearsal Dinner. I really wanted to make it special and I felt the best way to do that was to create the perfect setting. (Of course good food is important, but I wasn’t worried about that. Cooking for 50 is the easy part.)
A lot of us love the look of farmhouse decor. It’s simple. It’s relaxed. And a lot of it is about finding items that were once found in older homes or treasured by others before us. And the best part? You don’t have to live on a farm to style your home in this style. Farmhouse style is relaxed, focuses on the land and is based on you doing a lot of the things yourself! Which is one of the reasons why styling your house in farmhouse decor isn’t crazy expensive!
