My Favorite Wreaths for Fall
I love making wreaths for the fall, and this has to be my favorite DIY wreath ever! Copper is the perfect accent color for fall.
As the leaves turn yellow and red, we are all thinking about fall decorating. While pumpkins and autumnal flowers are always popular choices, I love adding wreaths to my home for the season. Today, I am sharing everything you need to know to make this copper metal wreath, plus more of my favorite fall wreaths.
I had wanted to make a copper wreath for quite some time, but I wasn’t sure how to cut it. When I heard the Cricut could cut thin metal, I knew I wanted to try it.
Then I discovered the Cricut debossing cutter (for the leaf veins) and realized I could make a fantastic copper wreath.
I am also sharing my favorite fall wreaths for sale at Amazon Home. I have joined fifteen other bloggers who are sharing their wreath DIY ideas. Be sure to scroll down to find everything!
This DIY includes how I found the leaf pattern, cut it on the machine, painted it, and assembled the wreath.
I found so many places to hang this wreath in our home. I’ll move it around every week for the next few months!
What You Need to Make a Foil Wreath
Craft 38 Gauge Colored Aluminum (I used three different colors.)
How to Make My Copper Fall Wreath
Here is a video to show how I made this wreath.
I cut a 12″ aluminum sheet and placed it on the light grip board. (You need to use a light grip mat, or else it might be hard to remove the aluminum after it’s cut.) I used a brayer to adhere it to the mat. It’s that easy.
Next, I found a leaf pattern in the Cricut Access Store, which you can find here.
On the Cricut machine, all I did was separate the veins from the outside cut of the leaf (in the photo above). I changed them to “deboss” so they would cut out the leaf design. The design is ready for you to use!
I had never used the deboss tool before. Isn’t it amazing?
Once the debossing is done, the Cricut machine automatically cuts out the leaf too.
These just peel off the cutting mat. It’s incredible.
After I cut out the leaves, I decided the color needed some cohesion. (Remember, I used three different colors of aluminum.)
I went through my acrylic paints and found these two metallic colors.
Next, I painted the leaves and loved how they came out.
I even wiped some of the paint off to allow some of the copper to shine through.
Here is how the leaves looked when they were all painted.
The metal wreath frame was sprayed with some of my leftover copper paint.
There are so many types of glue, and I wasn’t sure which would work best with aluminum. I tested many options, and of course, my hot glue gun worked the best.
To attach the leaves to the wreath frame, glue them to the frame, one at a time.
Continue gluing the leaves, covering the stems as you proceed around the frame.
This does not take long. I promise!
When the wreath was completed, I loved the outcome.
Aren’t these colors gorgeous?
If you aren’t a DIYer and want some new fall wreaths, here are my recommendations for the best ones you can buy now. They are all from Amazon Home, and the prices are very reasonable.

What a charming and unique wreath (that won’t dry out!).
Love this And your detailed explanation. I may just have to break out my Cricut. Haven’t used it successfully since we moved.
Oh, and I just disposed of my Cricut machine last week because I preferred my Big Shot and steel dies! I will try cutting out a few of these with my Big Shot and adding them to my purchased fall wreath from the Dollar Store clearance sale. You did and excellent job on yours and thank you for this idea!
Very cool!!!
Love the simplicity, so beautiful for fall!
Fall wreaths have been on my mind lately and I love the one you created. I’m going to pick up the debossing blade and give it a try this week. I already have the perfect spot for it.
Did you feel like the blade dulled any after cutting the metal? This is gorgeous and a friend is asking if I can make it. Wanting to know if a new blade will be in order or not?
Beautiful and long lasting, a great combination!!
It really is!! Thank you, Lisa!
This is so fabulous! You have the BEST projects and wreaths!
Thank you so much, Janine!!
Ooooohhhh! I love this wreath so much! Unfortunately I don’t have a Cricut machine. You should make it and sell it on Etsy! ❤️
Thank you so much, Debbie! That would be quite fun.
Wow, I had no idea I could do something like this with my cricut! I’m going to try it once I get burned out on all the pillows you inspired me to make! 🥰🤣🤷♀️
I am so excited for you to try it out, Val!
Where do I find sheets of aluminum you used ? Thank you
I ordered from Amazon.
Very beautiful! We too have a 100+ house and this would be a wonderful addition. The link to the craft metal that you used does not open. Could you correct this? Thanks!
This wreath is gorgeous!
What material setting did you use? My Maker won’t let me choose aluminum or copper. I get an error message that the material is not compatible with tool selected.
Thanks.
Jennie,
I am getting ready to do this and same problem. You need to look up materials for debossing tool.
I am using a cricut maker. And there is no setting for 38 gauge aluminum copper that she uses that I am also using. I am going to test cut, but before this I will Size the leaf that I cut out of paper for the 14 inch wreath frame using the size that the image came as from cricut. Leaf looks big.
My frame is not here yet so no info on size.
Not really sure what blade to use I am new to this material. Don’t waste any expensive material.
Do a lot of research first. Hope this helps.
Sincerely
Jefferson Hunt
I’m going to try and make this but now I don’t know what setting to use for the cutting and debossing. I’m kind of new at this. Can you please share what setting you used? Thank you.
Kim ,working on it today and will let you know what settings I use.
Jeff
Jeff, did you figure out the settings? Also, I can’t find the leaf pattern she used (nothing comes up when I type that number in the search bar) in Cricut Access, did you use that pattern? Thanks!
Tammy
Hi Tammy M. I found the leaf just by searching Leaf. It never works when I put those numbers in, you need to scroll down a bit. I think I filtered the search by cutting and debossing files.
Thank you Jeff.
Thank you Jeff!
Thanks, I will look for your information, appreciate you (in advance) for sharing.
Kim,
Ok, I tried that as well, but will keep looking…Thanks!
Did anyone figure out the Cricut machine settings for the cutting and debossing?
I was going to try, but still haven’t located the leaf pattern; I’ve searched everything “leaf” I can think of. Don’t see the filter about debossing or cutting…
