The Most Important Change You Need to Make in Your Home
Let’s all make a change and show others that we want to make our home, our planet, a better Eco-Friendly place to be.
I have an important question. What are you doing in your home to be more eco-friendly? I know you all want to do something. But if you’re like me, you probably thought that you can’t do enough to make a difference. Or you were afraid that it’s just too hard to make changes.
We all know it’s important to make our planet a clean and safe home. But it isn’t hard. I promise. Let me tell you what I am doing.
I made a decision a few weeks ago to make the Waco Fixer Upper Airbnb home eco-friendly. What does that mean? It actually means a lot. I am using plant-based, healthy, sustainable products from Grove Collaborative. I am also providing aluminum water bottles and filtered water for our guests and our coffee machine is equipped with reusable k-cups and ground coffee. We are also recycling and using smart technology to control air and heat.
So why am I going eco-friendly? Because I think I need to do something. And if I can show you all how easy and good it is, then why not? If even one of my Airbnb guests, each month, likes what I have done and decides to try it at home, then it’s all worth it.
I just read that in the US, 1500 water bottles are discarded every second. I can’t believe it. That kills me. So, if I can offer my guests a nice stainless water bottle that they can use instead of plastic bottles, then why not?
Let me share a few sustainable facts with you.
- At least 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year. That’s similar to emptying a garbage truck of plastic into the ocean every minute. – [Link]
- Americans use 100 billion plastic bags a year, which requires 12 million barrels of oil to manufacture. LINK
- 500 MILLION plastic straws are used EVERY DAY in America. That’s enough to circle the Earth twice. Now is the time to switch to reusable and sustainable bamboo straws.
- Only about 23% of plastic bottles are recycled within the U.S [Link]
This is all pretty unbelievable. And when I read these facts, I decided it was time I did something.
Grove Collaborative has so many natural products and I am thrilled to be using them. That is because I want to make a difference. As a #grovepartner, I am using their products which include paper products, products for cleaning and laundry, and personal care.

Thanks Leslie, I’m going to place an order. I go back in forth with natural cleaning products. I’ll use them for awhile and then go back to conventional.
How far is the Waco house from town?
Jayne
I use all of these wonderful products already-but much easier to order from Grove-I am placing an order right now ( us early birds)
Hi Leslie,
The link does not seem to be working…could be me at this early hour…
That’s wonderful Leslie – how great that you’re making the Waco house an even better place to be! 💗 Love Mrs Meyers and method too!
Another thing we did to keep it green is to NOT use vinyl windows.
Mrs. Meyers products and Method are NOT eco-friendly- C rated on EWG. Both are greenwashed.
I agree Diana! I have multiple allergies and mrs meyers bothers me…most perfumes/fragrances are very toxic even being preserved with formaldehyde (incredibly toxic as well). I encourage concerned peps to ck out Dr axe .com or Dr Eric Z posts on this sad increasingly common toxin in our environment! ESPECIALLY harmful to our children, these chemicals affect nervous system function….Know anyone with anxiety? Nuerotoxic as we’ll as harmful to our livers and circulatory system (lungs!) we all need to educate ourself! Blessings and love to all who read this most esp our blogger friend who took a giant step in the right direction!😘💜😘
