How to Set the Table for Christmas Dinner

The holidays are right around the corner and I am excited to share with you how I created this wonderful tablescape for Christmas Dinner. I love Christmas music so I thought it would be fun to create a caroling musical them at our table. I think this could also be our table for Christmas Eve because I have a really fun idea!
I really wanted to personalize our Christmas Eve table to create a Christmas dinner music theme. I am thrilled to partner with Cricut and JOANN and share the Cricut ® Explore Air ™, Wild Rose Edition, which is sold exclusively at JOANN. I was so happy to learn that this new Wild Rose Air 2 Cricut comes with the biggest JOANN bundle of supplies ever (click here to learn more and purchase).
I made two special decor items for our table. The first is the musical placemats. I selected eight lines from my favorite Christmas carols and used the Cricut Iron On process to add them to my placemats.
Next, I made these adorable 3D Trees to decorate the table. I found the free pattern in the Cricut Design Space and I love how they came out.
I also collect a lot of vintage items and I just happened to have some vintage Christmas albums. So I alternated placing the album covers under the plates on the table. How fun is that!
How to Make Personalized Placemats for Christmas Dinner
Materials To Cut
- Cricut Iron On
- Placemats
Everything Else
- LightGrip Machine Mat
- Iron and light cloth
- Select a few lines from your favorite Christmas carols.
- Type the text into a New Project in the Cricut Design site. If the text is longer than 12″, flip the lettering. Choose your favorite font.
3. Cut the sayings out of the Iron On material on your Cricut machine and weed out the extra material.
4. Iron the saying on to the placemat, using a thin cloth on top of the lettering.
5. You are done! It’s that easy.
How to Make the 3D Trees
I used a fabulous free pattern in the Cricut Design store called 3D Tree Place card. Originally it is used as a place card but the 3″ x 3″ size is perfect for small trees to decorate anywhere!
Materials To Cut
- Cardstock, White Glitter
- Cardstock, Green
- Cardstock, Cream (optional)
Everything Else
- LightGrip Machine Mat
- Single Scoring Wheel or Double Scoring Wheel (depending on material)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Tiny wood slices
Preparation
- If you want to alter the project, select Customize, then use the tools in the Edit panel to make changes before you cut.
TIP: If you have never used text features, check out the links below in the More Help section.
Cut
- Follow the prompts in Design Space® to cut the images from the cardstock.
- Insert your scoring tool when prompted.
Assemble
- Slide the trees with slits together. Fold the scored trees along score lines and glue into opposite sides of the pieces with slits.
- Fold stars along score lines and the glue all of them together to create a 3D star.
- Glue the star on top of the tree and the tree to the wood slice base.
- Write your guest’s names on the cream banner and set inside the tree.
- I added glitter for a more vintage look.
I also use some dried clay ornaments that I made for favors. My kids are growing up and they all need ornaments for their own trees!
So I am dying to know, how many of you are singing Christmas carols in your head? Well, you can be sure that our family will be singing all of the songs featured at our table this Christmas Eve! I cannot wait.

All thru this post, I could see nothing but the gorgeous vintage flatware! Stunning!
What font did you use for the place mat songs? Love this idea! Thank you.
OH MY GOSH! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS POST! I also use Spode Christmas Tree Dinnerware for the holidays but have never seen this pattern with the gold trim. Absolutely Lovely! I might have to finally ask Santa for a cricut
Lovely, so very lovely!!!
I love the place mates ! I don’t have a circuit BUT I’m going to come up with a way to do them without. Your table setting is lovely. I love your dishes, are they Spode? Do you know what the pattern name is? I have beautiful China and flatware my mother gave me she bought in Germany 60 years ago. I like to add a dessert or salad plate to them for special family dinners.
Love this holiday table setting! Do you have a link for the placemats? I’ll be singing Christmas songs all day in this crazy heat wave we are having here in Texas 🥵
