Looking Ahead to Next Year

|
I am feeling somewhat contemplative so I thought I might share my thoughts about transitioning into the new year. I have already started looking ahead to next year and I am so excited about the plan I have put together.

A year ago today I had no idea that I would have this Instagram account or a new blog. I was a full-time artist, happily painting seascapes and abstract paintings.

I was (and still am) a huge fan of the TV show Fixer Upper and thought it might be fun to start an IG account about our century-year-old home. I knew we needed some redecorating in our home and I thought it might be fun to share some of those projects. And that’s pretty much it.

The past ten months have been a whirlwind. My blog and Instagram account have grown a lot and I cannot believe how many people actually want to follow me! I love the farmhouse-home-decor community I have found here. Everyone is so nice and so willing to help each other. And the creative inspiration here is second to none.

MIY with Milk PaintSo I have been making lots of plans for next year. For the first time, I have created a year-long plan for my blog and each month I have a theme. You will see more DIY’s, home decor projects, flea market trips, recipes, and gardening. (Ok, I am a terrible gardener so I think I need to redo everything in my gardens in a public way to make me more accountable.) I also have a few more rooms in our house to redo that look really bad right now!

For example, January’s theme is Comfort. My blog will highlight things that make us comfortable, from comfort food to getting comfortable with yourself to DIY projects that can make your home more comfortable.

February’s theme is Refresh and Get Organized. We will make plans to organize a lot of areas of our homes, from the “telephone drawer” to our “craft rooms” to our master closets. We will also talk about getting organized with our lives when it comes to healthy eating, exercise and managing our lives as a blogger and Instagram poster. We will talk about Editorial Calendars and all the tools that can help us make social media a lot more manageable.

I will also be having some fun with a “Real Bloggers Come Clean” series featuring the real side of bloggers. Some of your favorite bloggers and I will share things like our never shown  “hoarding/storage rooms” and our biggest blunders we never talk about. I think this is going to be really fun. And very real!

I am so excited for everything I have planned for 2018! It’s going to be a great year.

I like your ideas for the new year and am looking forward to your posts!!! BTW I downloaded that VSCO app and looked online on how to use it but am having some trouble…the website tells you how to find the main menu to get started but when I swipe left I don’t see a menu.
