We all need a few go-to, Easy to Make recipes, Especially for entertaining. This Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa is probably my favorite recipe to serve at a dinner party.

Grilled Salmon and Avocado Salsa

I love to entertain. But I am not crazy about cooking dinner Monday through Friday because I get bored cooking the same “midweek dinners”. Recently I have been cooking my best entertaining recipes during the week. And this recipe is my favorite. It’s simple and delicious.

Which recipe is my favorite entree to serve at a dinner party? My Butternut Squash Ravioli recipe is a great go-to option and you can find that recipe here on my blog. But my favorite “throw together a dinner party in an hour” recipe is Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa. You can also cook this grilled salmon recipe the oven (instead of using your bbq) and it tastes just as good.

Why do I like this salmon recipe so much?

It tastes delicious and takes only about 35 minutes to make.

The recipe is also very healthy and looks a lot more impressive than the effort it takes to make. And that’s a really good thing.

What can you serve with the grilled salmon?

Salmon is compatible with almost everything. I have served it with potatoes or rice, a vegetable, and a salad.

I usually serve the grilled salmon with rice, grilled asparagus, and a salad.

The salad usually contains:

  • lettuce greens
  • dried cranberries
  • mandarin oranges
  • gorgonzola cheese
  • Sesame Ginger salad dressing (Paul Newman’s Lite Sesame Ginger Dressing works if you don’t want to make the dressing

Place the salmon in a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Drizzle the olive oil on the top of the salmon and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika.

Grill the salmon on high heat for five minutes on each side. Or bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for thirty minutes.

In a separate bowl, lightly toss avocados, 1/4 red onion, the juice from one lime, 1 Tbsp. olive oil and salt to taste.

Spoon avocado salsa on top of the cooked salmon. Top with finely cut cilantro and enjoy!

My second favorite way to serve salmon at a dinner party is to serve it with Lemon Dill Sauce. I cook the salmon in the exact same way as the recipe above, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with smoked paprika, salt and pepper. You can find the recipe for Lemon Dill Sauce here

  1. My go to midweek meal is tuna cakes more practical for two missionaries than crab! And definitely within our budget. Most things I make are from scratch. With the tuna cakes I add my homemade honey mustard dressing.

  2. Funny…my go to dinner party is grilled salmon as well! Except I do cheesy polenta, with fresh fruit salsa and asparagus as the side. 😁

  3. Everything looks so good. Salmon is one of my favorite meals. I’m going to look for that Paul Newman ginger dressing. Thanks for the meal planning ideas.

  5. Hi Leslie, one quick question. I have grilled a ton of salmon – planks, foil, fish pan etc.. but just to clarify – are you saying to put the baking pan with paper on the grill??? By the way, the salsa looks amazing. Making this tomorrow.

  6. Leslie,
