For this week’s installment of Design Inspirations, I wanted to introduce you to Michele of Sweet Threads Co! Her home combines the tenants of farmhouse and simplicity to create one beautiful, open and airy space that I’m totally swooning over and you will too!

So… shall we start with her dining room? I wish I could see the space in person because it looks like such a beautiful and relaxing spot to dine in and just sit around the table! I love the way that they designed the home to have these huge windows that let in tons of light. They remind me of the french doors on the back of my house that are right next to our informal dining room table.

And let’s be honest… if you know me, you know that I absolutely love a good outdoor area (or an outdoor living room as I like to call it). Michele’s outdoor living room fits the bill and looks so ideal for these upcoming summer nights. She used those same lights I used when I hosted my sister’s rehearsal dinner and let me tell you, I think after seeing how Michele incorporated these lights permanently into her outdoor space, I might have to do the same!

Michele was sweet enough to answer a few questions for us to give us a better glimpse into why she started on Instagram, what her favorite aspect of IG is and of course, what her unicorn Rae Dunn piece is! Thanks, Michele!

Leslie Saeta: What made you decide to go on IG and share your farmhouse with others?

Michele Brown: Sharing our home on IG started out more for me and my family and friends to document our new home construction. Then I started sharing more and more of the finished pieces and was so humble with the feedback I was getting from others that I just continue to share our special projects and DIYs.

LS: What was the single best thing you did to gain meaningful followers?

MB: The single best thing I did to gain meaningful followers was to participate with daily hashtags focused on home decor. I had a few features which helped greatly. I also gained a solid group of “IG friends” believe it or not who inspire, encourage and support one another on a daily basis.

LS: What’s been your favorite DIY project that you’ve featured?

MB: My most favorite DIY shared so far is my son’s industrial style pipe desk my husband built for his room.

LS: What’s your favorite farmhouse decor item?

MB: My most favorite farmhouse decor item is my large clock in our eat in kitchen I scored at Pier 1 Imports. It’s a large wall and the perfect accent for it.

LS: What’s been the most rewarding part of being on IG?

MB: the most rewarding part of being on IG has been the sweet DMs I have gotten from followers just writing a note to say they were inspired by something in my home. It makes it all worth it and keeps me sharing!

LS: My Rae Dunn unicorn….?

MB: Would you believe I don’t have one Rae Dunn piece? I can’t seem to find anything around here so I just swoon over everyone’s photos on IG. Maybe one day I will get lucky!
