MAKE IT YOURSELF // Creating a Flower Display Board

Processed with VSCO with f2 presetA few months back I saw riddling racks at Pottery Barn and thought they could make an adorable flower holder. But they were way too expensive. Then, a few weeks ago when I was in Waco I stopped at Kirkland’s. (I had seen on Instagram that it was a good place for home decor.) I came across an adorable riddling rack and it was on clearance for $13.00! I bought it, even though I had no idea how I would carry it all the way home to California. At least I know that when I have an idea, there’s no stopping me!

I wanted to put some type of small vase into each hole in the wooden rack to hold a live flower. I searched for glass bud vases and glass test tubes but none of them were the right size. (That’s actually kind of funny because I didn’t even have a tape measure so I didn’t even know the exact size of the hole). I was motivated to find something because I wanted to have this awesome display hanging on my wall for a dinner party we were hosting two days after I returned home! Fortunately, it was one of the easiest MIY’s I’ve ever done!

Processed with VSCO with f2 presetI finally came across a plastic test tube shot glass that measured 5” x 1”. I found a box on Amazon and ordered two boxes right away. When I got home I discovered they were perfect for my plan. So I hung the rack on the wall and filled each tube half way with water and a flower. I carefully put the tubes into each hole and they fit perfectly.

I first used ranunculus and then daffodils. Next, I am going to use tulips. Just be sure to refill the tubes with water every few days and use care when removing them from the rack. I was so excited with my project I went to two of the Kirkland’s here in southern California and bought all of the remaining racks they had in stock! I want to hang another one in my house and I also think these will make fabulous gifts.
