The Back Porch Makeover – Part Four

| |

It took almost an entire day to install new lighting on the back porch. First, I had my handyman replace the crooked and scary looking black chandelier. I bought this at the Rose Bowl flea market in 2000 and thought it looked nice. But I have disliked that chandelier for seventeen years!

I bought this new light a few months ago when it was on sale. It’s been sitting in the back of my living room (in a box) waiting for the perfect spot. I knew it would look amazing out here! (You can now find it on Amazon for $289.99)

I also moved an old floor lamp out here and replaced the shade. (Can you tell I love lighting in outdoor areas?)

Since I moved the table out on the patio, I really wanted, more than anything, to hang a chandelier from the tree (I went with this one which is also from Amazon)I threw out every possible idea to my handyman and he made it work. The light is attached to an extension cord that is easily plugged in. I just love it!

I also hung a cabinet I found in Ventura at the flea market on the wall outside the door. Of course, I still need to write something on the chalkboard. And I found this rug at the Pottery Barn Outlet. All their rugs were 50% off the outlet price over the Memorial Day weekend and it was an absolute steal. (Pro Tip: If you have an outlet semi-close by, always stop by… that’s when you find the deals!)

The only thing left to do is find more iron patio furniture! I love the iron couch I bought many months ago and I still can’t believe I found cushions to fit at Pier One. (The back/upper cushions will arrive later this week.) But I need two matching chairs (to replace the teak ones) and a coffee table. If you know anyone in Southern California that has old vintage iron patio furniture for sale, please let me know!
