You Too Can Have a Flower Arranging Room

| |

A few days ago I posted a photo of my flower arranging room on my Instagram. The photo was somewhat “real life” as the room was kind of a mess. I was really surprised, and happy, with the reaction. Many of you loved the photos, loved that I had a flower arranging room and wanted to know what it would take to have a flower arranging room of your own. So today I am going to help you understand how easy it is to set up your own flower arranging room.

First thing, I need to come clean. Technically my “flower arranging room” is not a room. It’s the end of a room. More specifically, it is located at one end of our butler’s pantry. The area used to be my “coffee area”. But after creating my “coffee area” I quickly came to the realization that I didn’t need a specific area to make coffee. I make a cup of Starbuck’s Viva instant coffee every morning. And I use hot water from our instant hot faucet (which is in our kitchen). The total time it takes me to make a cup of coffee is about fifteen seconds. I couldn’t quite see the need for an entire area that I used a few seconds a day.

Thus, I changed it into a flower decorating room.

Let me share with you what exactly is in my flower arranging room. First off, there was already a copper sink in the counter which is great but not an absolute. You just need water nearby.

Here is what you do need to have:

  • a counter area to sort, cut and arrange your flowers
  • tall flower buckets to hold flowers (fresh and faux)
  • cutting tools such as clippers, rose leaf remover, scissors, floral wire
  • vases
  • garden gloves

Here is what you might want, but don’t need to have:

  • decor signs pertaining to flowers
  • clay pots, vintage metal pots
  • faux flowers

As you can see, you don’t need a lot to have a flower arranging room. In fact, you don’t even need a room. All you really need is an area. There is likely a counter, table or area in your kitchen, pantry, or laundry room that might work perfectly.

In fact, you might even have an unused “coffee station” that would work perfectly.

  1. Great suggestion…I have a very large laundry room with two counters and a sink so I am going to do just that. Thank you Leslie! 🙂

  2. Love this! Out mudroom could be organized to be more efficient and the kitchen has a bit of space too. May have to try this. I bought about 20 varieties of cutting flowers to try out this year!

  3. It seems so civilized to have a flower arranging room. Thank you for sharing. I tend to do fresh flowers in our kitchen, which has 3 sinks. My potting shed is designated for all outdoor plants and flowers. But I do love the fact you converted a rarely used space to something you love. It’s very pretty.

  4. Love all the fresh flowers. Thanks for sharing the info on wholesale hydrangeas. I moved to the south and I miss lilacs. Do you have a source for lilacs?
