Decorating the Back Porch for the Holidays

| | |

The weather this week has been in the high seventies and low eighties all week. I cannot believe it is the week before Christmas and it’s been this warm. But there is a silver lining for our family. And that is our back porch! Today I’m talking all about decorating our back porch for the holidays.

Our porch is truly a flea market collection of wonderful vintage finds. And I can pretty much guarantee that all of these items were found at one of these places:

Vintage Junktion LA
Through the Porthole
The Rose Bowl Flea Market
The Long Beach Flea Market
The Warped Table

The metal side shelf and the white metal tables were both found at the Rose Bowl flea market. I added the small Christmas trees from target and some cotton and eucalyptus from Save On Crafts

The trees, wreaths, and garland are all fresh. I love how I was able to use the red wagon and the Jolly Pop wooden crates to add height to the trees. The wooden sleigh was a great find. I just love it.

I wanted an outdoors and rustic Christmas feel on the back porch. So I pulled out some of my galvanized buckets to hold up the trees.

There are no tree stands in the buckets. All you need are some lower branches to keep the trees snug and straight.

I set the outdoor table with my favorite metal charges and added some tin plates I bought from Williams-Sonoma many years ago.

The tall galvanized vases from Save On Crafts are my absolute favorite! They look great with fresh greens, cotton stems, and some faux eucalyptus.

I love using mason jar glasses to hold the silverware.

I added a shot of our backyard. We have a sand volleyball court in the far back and a pool just in front of it. You might notice Sport was happy to make it in one of my photos.

The back porch is festive but not overdone. It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee or cocktails by the fire. Now let’s just hope the weather cools down before Christmas!

  1. Leslie, what a fun spot to relax and make memories! We are so lucky to have mild winters in California so we can extend our homes and include our outside area. You have done a great job creating a fun, cozy area. Thanks again for the shout out!!

    Merry Christmas my friend!!

  2. I just love your back porch and I own so many of the things you have it is uncanny. If you are ever in the area I have a home decor store called Charlie’s House in Old Town Monrovia that I think you might enjoy, There is a greenhouse in the store made entirely from vintage windows. Merry Christmas!
