Christmas in Our Living Room

| |

As much as I struggled this year with decorating for Christmas, I do have to say I am very happy how it turned out… especially Christmas in my living room. This was the first time I have decorated our entire house and I learned a lot. Don’t overdo it. Stay true to the look and feel of your home. And don’t get intimidated by what you see on all of the beautiful Instagram feeds. (That last one was the biggie for me.)

This piece of furniture is always a joy to decorate because there is so much character in the piece itself! I think it would look great with nothing on it but I love how it inspires me to add as many vintage items as I can find. The mirrors, basket, ornaments, books, clock (yes, that round white and brass thing is a clock that works!) and clock faces are all vintage.

These adorable trees are from @curtiscreation and are on sale at 20% off right now!

I have been a crazy lady making pillows this month and here are three new ones on the couch. I am not sure which one is my favorite. I love them all. And yes, I did make them using my silhouette machine! All of the pillow covers and inserts are from Ikea. They have the best prices anywhere!

If you look really closely at the photo below, you can see my iron and ironing board in my craft room. They are a permanent fixture in my craft room as I need them to make the pillows. (If you look even closer you might notice the lamp sitting on the floor, behind the couch. Our sofa table is in the backyard getting ready for milk paint!)

I went with three flocked trees this year by the fireplace. They are all from King of Christmas. My absolute favorite item in this room is the green wagon holding the tree on the left! It’s from @vintagejunktionLA and I love it!

Our black coffee table will hopefully be replaced with a vintage one next week (another project happening with milk paint in our backyard!). Also, the stockings aren’t hung yet. That’s because I can’t find our stocking hangers!

We are still missing our real tree, which will be adorned with all of our family ornaments. Hopefully, Dave and I will get that on Saturday.

As you have already figured out, decorating for Christmas in our home is going to be a “work in progress”. We have something really big happening here on Tuesday so I can promise you, the house will be completely done by then. Sleep or no sleep, it will be done.

  2. I absolutely love the idea of having undecorated trees – they look lovely by the fireplace (definitely doing this next year). And your pillows are adorable. Just finished reading the recipe email – thank you so much for sending it as I am having my first Christmas Open House this year, so I will surely be making quite a few of the appetizers and several friends are providing the desserts.
