FIND OF THE WEEK // Chalkboard Stencils

|

I just realized I should probably do a new blog post on collecting chalkboards. If you walk around my house I think you would be shocked to see how many I have hanging on my walls. Technically I think I have another collection … chalkboards (you can see when I’ve posted about them here, here and here). Big surprise.

The problem is … what do I put on them? I love writing funny things and messages but I don’t love my handwriting. Fortunately, I came up with a solution.

Chalkboard stencils!

All I did was pull out my Silhouette machine (actually that’s not true as I never actually put it away), then I designed a stencil to fit my chalkboard and the machine did the rest. I attached the stencil on the chalkboard surface and then used plain old white chalk on top of the stencil. I love the end result!

Here’s what my stencil looked like.

Obviously, I couldn’t stop after just one chalkboard so here is what I made for the one in the kitchen.

Isn’t this Rae Dunn chalkboard adorable? This will be a perfect welcome for our house guests.

What do you like to write on your chalkboards?

  1. I painted the kick plate on my stairs with chalkboard paint and write welcome messages on them when the grandkids come, then let them erase it and do their own artwork. I love to keep little bits of it after they leave. It makes me smile.
